QMC SPONSORS AN 18 FOOT SKIFF ON SYDNEY HARBOUR
Quality Marine Clothing (QMC) is proud to announce the sponsoring of an 18 foot skiff to compete on Sydney Harbour during the 2017-18 summer season.
The 18 Footers have been well renowned on Sydney Harbour since 1938 with an almost unrecognisable design compared to today’s modern machines. It was always popular starting with 20 boats, and soon taking on the Kiwi’s across the ditch.
Today’s boats are almost unrecognisable to those original ‘18’s’ being made of Kevlar and carbon, making them very light, very fast and of course very exciting to watch as they almost ‘fly’ across the water. Usually being three up, they have a big and a small rig and two sets of sails to match. As a one design class it is all about skill rather than money that helps you win – they truly are a very exciting class.
The 2017-18 season sees 17 local boats line up on the start line before the famed JJ Giltinan Championship in March; which usually sees entries from New Zealand, England and USA compete.
Apart from having the best dressed team on the water QMC aims to be noticed on and off the water, showing what great gear can be put together for other teams or companies in the marine industry, having access to the best brands on the planet.
Sales Director for QMC added ‘After having a go on an 18 footer last year I was hooked. An exciting class, great club and great way to promote the business. Looking forward to supporting our team and growing our new business.”
The QMC boat is helmed by Aron Everett with Courtney Mahar as sheet hand and Geoff Little as bowman.
We look forward to an exciting season.
